190 welcome, new visitor!
Welcome to the Shadowness Community Art Project
If you are new to the project, you will be able to find the Conest Rules and Submission Guidelines here. This page will also be used to consolidate all SCAP entries for viewing on one page, as it can get hectic trying to just use the group gallery for this. I hope everyone enjoys the contest and continues to participate. Depending on how this first one goes, I am planning on running them every 2-3 months, but we will see.
Contest Description
The goal of this project is to promote cooperation and friendly competition between all types of artists on Shadowness. The way it works is simple. Before beginng the contest we will vote on a focus image. This image is what all users must start with for the contest. During the course of the contest you will be allowed to edit the focus image in any way that you see fit, and submit it for the final voting round. During the two week period of voting, users will vote on which image they think came out the best. You do not have to be in the contest to cast a vote, it is open to anyone. The winner of the contest will receive a free sub-domain/website + 1 year of free data storage courtesy of myself and www.grfx-lab.com.
Contest Progression
The contest will last 2 months and be broken into 3 separate stages. Please read below to find out about each stage and what it entails.
- Stage 1
- A 2 week period in which the first week is dedicated to taking submissions for the project focus, and the second weekis dedicated to users voting on which image to use as the focus.
NOTE: NOT ALL ENTRIES WILL BE SUBMITTED FOR VOTING IN "STAGE 1". Depending on the number of images submitted, myself and the administrators shall choose a number to show you that is guaranteed to show a fair sampling of work. I will take all of the images and put them into a random image generator, choosing the first ones that are shown. This is to ensure that there are not so many entries that the votes get scattered too much and hard to take.
- Stage2
- Lasts for 4 weeks - this is the main body of the contest in which users edit the focus image for the final contest entry.
- Stage 3
- The last 2 weeks of the contest are devoted entirely to voting for the winner. The user whose image receives the most number of votes during this period will be declared the winner. ANYONE is allowed to vote, even if you're not in the contest. You MAY NOT vote for yourself; but if you have an entry in the contest, you MUST vote for someone. Contestants who do no submit a vote will have their entries disqualified.
Submitting your work is very easy. If you're having a little trouble, follow the instructions below.
- Upload your image to one of your galleries as you normally would.
- When you are adding TAGS to you images, type "Shadowness Community Art Project".
- Select "Shadowness Communtiy Art Project" from the menu that appears; it will add the TAG "SCAP" to your image and it will be shown in the SCAP group gallery.
While so far there are no set "rules" to the contest, this shall serve as a guideline for submitting work for considering as the "focus" of the project until such time as rules become required.
- In order to submit an image for the focus, just add the "Shadowness Community Art Project" TAG to the image, and it will be submittied in our gallery.
- Consider when you are submitting a focus that the image is going to need to be edited by everyone, heavily in some cases. For this reason, images that don't have room for people to work with will probably not be voted as the focus.
- While all forms of art are welcome, some forms are much more likely to be voted a focus than others. Keep in mind how other people might look at your work as a canvas to do their own work with.
- Please do not post anything offensive to be considered for the focus. All of the Terms & Submission Guidelines you are bound to on Shadowness.com do apply to this contest, since they are hosting it on their website.
- All submission guidelines and terms of service that apply to Shadowness hold true in the contest.
- All submissions must be your own work.
- No submitting or pornographic or otherwise offensive material to the contest.
- Users may only win this contest one time every year, in the interest of fairness to everyone.
- Do not mock or otherwise make detrimental remarks about any other contestant or their submission. Failure to follow this rule will result in the offending users' submissions being disqualified.
- Do not repeatedly post new versions of your work for the final submission. You are allowed ONE submission for the final vote, so make it count. If you post more than one submission, your newest will be used and the rest will be disqualified. If a user continuously posts new versions of their image, the user will be removed from the contest.
- All terms and conditions that are used by GRFX-Lab.com will apply to the winner and their website. Any posting of pornographic material or otherwise adult-oriented material on a winning website will result in the site being deleted and the user account being removed from the system.
